Simon Peter Duck was born April 29, 1836 in Ohio. He joined the Union Army on Jan. 15, 1861 and served as a corporal with the Fourth Iowa Cavalry from 1861-1865. He served in Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee (Vickburg) and was with General Sherman on his march to the sea. After the war he participated in the Land Run and settled in Stillwater, Oklahoman.
